The horses used on the rides are from the well- established stables of Perol Chico, the leading pioneers of equestrian travel in Peru.
The prize-winning Peruvian Paso horses of Perol Chico are bred for strength and stamina and trained to perform well on extreme difficult terrain and at high altitudes. Their endurance and willingness to work (not to mention their extremely comfortable gait) makes hours in the saddle a pleasure.
MZG's multi-day riding tours in Cusco and Arequipa are suitable for the more experienced rider who can appreciate a well-trained, sensitive, forward going and warm-blooded horses.

The Posada del Inca Ride
2 days / 1 night - Cusco - Sacred Valley - Cusco
The two-day Posada del Inca Ride is especially designed for guests with little time available. On the first day a demonstration of the Classic Peruvian Equitation and an introduction to the Peruvian Paso horse will be offered prior to the start of the ride. During the Posada del Inca Ride we will visit the famous saltpans of Salinas, the village of Maras “Ciudad de Las Portadas" (City of doorframes), the Inca store houses at Checoq and the amazing agricultural terraces of Moray. Hundreds of years ago the terraces at Moray served as an experimental agricultural station for the development of different crop strains.
The ride includes one overnight at the comfortable hotel Sonesta Posada del Inca, an English-speaking trail guide, lunch and dinner on day 1 and lunch on day 2. A 4WD vehicle will be used as a back up to the ride.
The Monasterio Ride
3 days / 2 nights - Cusco to Cusco
This is a wonderful 3-day riding experience in the Peruvian Andes. Ponchos, sombreros, wonderful meals, Pisco Sours, excellent accommodation, combined with spirited purebred Peruvian Paso horses and the good company of passionate and experienced Peruvian horsemen makes this ride an experience hard to forget. You will visit the saltpans of Salinas and other amazing Inca sites, pass through picturesque mountain villages, have a delicious lakeside picnic and ride through miles and miles of stunning Andean landscapes. The Pancho Fierro Ride
6 days / 5 nights - Cusco - Sacred Valley - Cusco
Starting from the heart of the historically rich and colourful Sacred Valley, the ride follows ancient cobblestone roads and takes you along secluded mountain trails to access Peru's hidden marvels. The route passes through isolated villages of the Quechua and Q'enco Indian communities with numerous visits to the finest Inca ruins. This 6-day luxury riding adventure includes 5 riding days, 5 overnights at charming hotels in the Sacred Valley and Cusco, wonderful meals and a support team of grooms, cook, trail-guides plus a 4x4 back up vehicle throughout the ride.

The Sacred Valley Ride
12 days / 11 nights - Lima - Sacred Valley - Cusco - Machu Picchu - Lima
Starting from our riding operation in the heart of the Sacred Valley at about 8,500 feet, the Sacred Valley Ride follows a route across the Urubamba River, up through mountain pasture where smiling Quechua children herd sheep and cattle, to highland terraces and small, mountain villages, where the horses' hooves echo on ancient cobblestone roads. Oxen pull wooden ploughs through the fields, travel is largely by foot and the native people speak Quechua, the language of the Incas. Two nights are in comfortable lakeside camps (weather permitted) with breathtaking views of the snow-covered mountain peaks and the rest are in charming hotels. The trip includes a visit to the legendary Inca citadel of Machu Picchu and a stay in the ancient Inca capital of Cuzco. Set departure dates from April till October.
Caleta San Jose Ride
5 days / 4 nights - Arequipa - Pacific coast - Arequipa
This amazing horse-riding journey along the coast of Arequipa is a truly unique and unforgettable travel experience if you are willing to go off the beaten track somewhat. The stunning desert coast of Peru is home to impressively huge sand dunes and sprawling, rocky wastelands. Few visitors to Peru know of this coastal desert with its jagged moonscape and curving sand dunes. During the ride you will visit one of the most solitary and uninhabited coves off the southern Peruvian coast, the Caleta San Jose, a quiet and peaceful place where the loudest sounds are the waves of the sea. During your two nights stay at the Caleta San Jose you will enjoy a boat ride from La Huata Cove to the Hornillos Island to see sea lions, penguins and many sea birds. The ride includes four exciting riding days on our fine Peruvian Paso horses through one of the most spectacular landscapes of the Peruvian coastal desert.
Peruvian Odyssey
11 days / 10 nights - Lima - Arequipa - Pacific coast - Cusco - Machu Picchu - Lima
The Peruvian Odyssey begins in the beautiful city of Arequipa, the city of the eternal spring and takes you through one of the world driest deserts, over huge sand dunes and through dramatic gorges, to the Pacific Ocean. Nights are spent in hotels, camps and simple cabanas - Robin Crusoe style cabins on the beach. The ride includes a visit to Machu Picchu and Cusco, capital of the ancient Inca Empire.
Best suited to pioneering souls, this is an equestrian journey filled with stark contrasts; warm days, cool nights, barren desert camps and comfortable hotels, and the wild shores of the Pacific Ocean. Set departure dates from October till March.
